This morning as I was chilling my bourbon mash in preparation for yeast, I noticed that my 32 gallon Brute is noticeably bulging. This is only the 2nd time adding boiling water to it for a corn mash, but I'm a bit leery of doing it again considering what I'm seeing going on with the sides.
It's performed well for Barley mashes where the strike water on 50# of grain is only 165F, but I dont think it's going to survive another mash session of boiling water on cornmeal for hours on end. I think it has to do with the air channels they mold into these new cans. It's not a perfect cylinder, so it gets stressed at the ridges under sustained high temperature.
Do the Blue Poly drums hold up better than the Brute to repeated torture under boiling water and corn? I foresee a new 30 gallon fermenter in my near future. Like, before I cook any more grain.
Anyone ever had a Brute trash can fail?

Fear and ridicule are the tactics of weak-minded cowards and tyrants who have no other leadership talent from which to draw in order to persuade.
