I had a thought this last week while I was working on a batch.
I was doing a simple Peach, fresh Vanilla bean and corn sugar wash and once it was cooked and in the fermenter I do like I always do and set up the airlock with a fill of some of the 170 I pulled from the last batch. after a couple of days of it bubbling up through the airlock (and honestly I don't know why I tried it) I took a little sip off the 170 that had been sitting in the airlock and oh god was it good.
I didn't get any of the peach or vanilla flavor but it had taken the 170 that was already pretty smooth and made it amazing. I didn't have enough in the airlock to proof but I assume i probably lost some % but still it made me wonder. would it be beneficial to aerate clear neutral?
Has anyone done this and if not does anyone have a reason? I searched in the search field but only came up with a few things about aerating the ferment which makes sense. just wondering if I'm onto something. we normally get 3 gal or so of 170 from our runs and have been distilling pretty much every weekend through the reflux still so trying it out on a quart wouldn't be a big loss if its bad but still. there is a huge wealth of knowledge here..
