Yeasty/mouldy layer on top of wash - Is this safe?

Post by Craigils »

So I made my second batch of Birdwatchers wash, but this time I let it sit for probably 2 or 3 months after making it - Not for any special purpose, I just haven't had the chance to distill it.

When I opened the wash this evening, I found that it had a pretty gross looking layer of powdery foamy stuff on top.
I haven't had this wash open at all since making it, and kept the airlock on it the entire time. The wash still smells fine - even the mouldy stuff doesn't really smell like mould. Just smells like the wash, really.

Should I throw this wash all away, or is this something that you guys know about that is safe.
