Ok, I am fascinated and still learning about esterification in rum, and finding ways to achieve it in my highly limited circumstances.
I am aware of Hampton high-eater rum etc, which is high-octane ester juice. That’s not imo artificial, simply intense.
But I’m curious whether artificial flavours like those one can find for dessert-making get used in commercial rum at all?
I won’t be doing it ever. But when you purchase a rum, is there some possibility that what you taste has simply been added like any other food flavouring to the final product? Neutral + rum flavouring, for example.
Flavour essences in commercial rum?
