brown sugar vs molasses
Hello to all. I am trying to make my first homemade rum but I immediately had one of the first problems. I couldn't find molasses in my area, so I dissolved 5kg of brown sugar and boiled for two hours. can that be enough to produce something that is rum-like? I read that to get the real molasses you have to boil the sugar for up to 10 hours. I don't have all this time and even gas is expensive. what do you think? what are the pros and cons? thank you all
