Hello,
I'm not sure if this is the right category to post my question this but here it goes.
I see most stills have a direct heating element that goes straight into the liquid to be distilled, Like beer or wine .
but this has the caveat that you cant have grains or residue due to the possibility of it scorching and ruining both your precious beer and heating coil .
So it dawned on me that I could use a stainless steel micron mesh to make a "cage" or sock of some sort to slip the heating element in. Something like this an "hop spider"
Or maybe its better to have some sort of false bottom to be able to distil on grain ?
So my question is has any one here tried to " protect" her direct immersion heating element with some type of fine mesh or is this not worth the hassle ?
Thank you!
ps. please excuse my English some of this was translated in google .
Is Element Protection a thing ?
