My Whiskey needed a Home

Post by armor99 »

Chasers of the craft....
As my first and second batch of whiskey ages away on it's long 6 month slumber, it occurred to me, that all of the whiskey that I produce needed a home. A place to be. Somewhere (behind closed doors), where I can share with friends who will come by. That is after all one of the reasons I got into whiskey making in the first place. To see the smile on friends faces tasting something that I made (which hopefully turns out good.). I have a games room in my home, where I play poker on occasion. Seemed like the perfect place for a dedicated Whiskey Cabinet. The photos show what I eventually found. It is unlike anything else in my home. It is old, and rustic, and was completely handmade. It is very far from perfectly built. But for what it will contain, that aesthetic seemed perfect. My dream is to one day be playing poker with friends and hear someone say... "Hey... can I get some of that Modern Alchemy special reserve stuff!!!???" Why yes.... yes you can...

I love the inside. I find the outside to be a horrowshow, but I'm somewhat of a fan of minimalist styles of cabinetry (a standard shaker-style cupboard door is pushing my limits for "fussyness"). I wouldn't want it in my home, but at some level Iḿ very happy that it exists!

Thats cool. Im not a big fan of southwestern interior design, but I can see that fitting into certain decor.

I like it. It's like a party in a cabinet. :-)

Cheers! 🍻

I'd say from the front, that's a tequila cabinet, not a whiskey cabinet ;-)

Thanks to all of the cheers, and jeers received. :) I looked for quite a long time till I found something that I was OK with. Lots to look at. Honestly, wish the doors were a bit more plain as well, but I am in AZ, so the SW motif sorta works. I like that it is completely hand made. Engineer though I am, I appreciate the cabinets imperfections. Very far from perfect. Cracked wood in spots, doors are not aligned perfectly, etc. Has a bit of a wooden "creaking" sound when opened that you just do not usually get. (sorta like that)
It is also just a beast of a cabinet. You just cannot appreciate from the photos how SOLID it really is. I can fill every shelf to max capacity, and never have to worry about weight or a sagging shelf.
Because I do not have a truck, I had to split the difference between cost, and distance to my home. Luckily, I bought it from someone that had a furniture deliver thing on the side, and we rolled delivery into the price. I like it.... Cheers... 8)
