Can I build a worm condenser that will fit in a 2 inch pipe?

Simple pot still distillation and construction with or without a thumper.

Can I build a worm condenser that will fit in a 2 inch pipe?

Post by AppleWood50 »

Looking to build a copper worm condenser. But instead of building it Inside an open bucket I'd like to build it Inside a closed canister. This would allow me to run a higher flow of water through the condenser without it overflowing. Because it would be in a sealed enclosure.

I was thinking of starting with soft 8mm or if possible 10mm soft copper tube. Then bending it Into a tight copper coil that would fit inside a 2 inch stainless steel pipe. Cap each end with a Tri clamp end cap and it would essentially be a super small and convenient worm condenser. Basically a large Liebig jacket with a worm inside!

I guess the question is, could I tightly role a 8 or 10mm pipe into a worm coil that would fit inside a 2 inch outer jacket?

If not, what would be a good housing for the worm? As said, I'd like it to be sealed so I can pump as much water through it as I want but also easy to dismantle for cleaning and storage.
