working small wort sizes with a large still

Hello Everyone,
New to this fourm and distilling,so thank-you in advance for your responses. I'd like to get folks option on this. I am going to have access to a 30 gallon pot still (with thumper and wort). Its kettle is electric (5500 watt emedded element). How best does one work with small 6 to 7 gallon worts with this size still? I was told to dilute the wort with water and fill still kettle to capacity. Is this sound advice? Thoughts? Concerns?
