New to the hobby and eager to learn

Post by Poloclub »

Hi all,

I’m a 60 something woman who was enticed to the hobby by Moonshiners and Master Distiller. I understand reality TV is really just entertainment but I was intrigued. We (my wife and I), asked questions and learned enough to begin with a 5 gallon pot still and a thumper. After the nightmare of keeping our first run (sugar wash) cool we designed and built a cooling system using siphon from a 50 gal barrel of cool water and a return with a small electric pump along with ball valves to control the flow. We have done 6 runs so far (2 sugar, 2 corn/6 row and 2 corn/2row). We are very safety minded and are really enjoying learning a new craft.
Thank you for an invaluable web site and forum…..

Welcome Diane,

Having a dedicated 'stilling buddy' is a luxury indeed, and you two should make great strides in improving your craft together. The great majority of us should be so lucky. Enjoy the journey!

Welcome to HD Diane..

I've got a family by the same name, and she can stand her own grounds..

Hoping you are of the same generic makeup..

Enjoy the journey of the new hobby..
