To all of you down under

Post by Dougmatt »

I just saw Priscilla Queen of the Desert last night. (On a NCL cruise ship in the Med). Couldn’t help but think of all of you and wonder which character you were most like…. Can just see SBB and Yummy lip synching….

I just read an article about the dangers of drinking that scared the crap out of me.

That’s it. No more reading!

Funnily enough I grew up in one of the desert towns where a lot of that movie was made.
Having said that Ive never bothered to watch the movie, seen snippets of it here and there on TV over the years though.

It’s a great movie Dougmatt .

I’m a Kiwi born , but I love Aussie movies .
There is just something real about them . ….some of them a bit cheesy , but real .

If you get the chance .
Australia
Red Dog
The Dish
The Sapphires
Bad Boy Bubby

“At first I was afraid , then I was petrified “ …..

But I think I best lip sync the Butch Lesbo bar tender the best :shh:

Imagine, "heys Kids, Grandma, Grandpa cmon it's movie night, remember that nice Aussie guy with the weird accent ? He recommended some films....this one looks good...."

Then Morgan Freeman voice over narration comes on

Quirky one from the 80's for the list, Hercules Returns (not what is sounds like) a very well done comedy.

I almost expat’ed to OZ 15 years ago. Love the quirkiness of these suggestions and making a list of things to watch when I’m home from this trip. I am planning a visit next year as well. Looking forward to that too!

It’s a fun movie. I remember seeing it in the cinema when it came out and people were in stitches.

It’s clear that it was made with an international audience in mind, as it plays a lot on Aussie stereotypes. Most of the population is urban and lives on the coast….but here we are in desert towns with corrugated iron pubs and farmers in blue singlets. These places and people exist, but it’s like 5% of the population.
