Is a 6in (160mm) double coil enough for 2in CCVM

Post by old_chook »

Hi All,

Is a 6in (160mm) double helix reflux coil enough knock down for a 2in CCVM?

I will be running a max 2400w (240v, 10A).

Many plans say about 8in

Thanks

Mine is about 170mm and it knocks down 2000w no problems, depends a bit on the ID of the pipe and the way the coils are set, you need and even spacing and no kinks for resistance, it is also dependant on flow.
Mine runs of a low volume pond pump and works fine

Mine sounds about the same size as Sporicles . I think it was 7” . Note it is not close wound . It will knock down 2400w in my LM/VM still no problems . Probably more , but 2400w is all I have in it .

I don’t have CCVM , but I see no reason it would not work in one as well . Its all about being able to 100% knock down and still have a bit in reserve .

So I would also agree you could get away with a 6” so long as you don’t flatten it too much . Ample water flow is important .
It’s no use having a 12” long one if the water flow is so restricted , it can’t get the hear out fast enough .
