Great song right there Squiggle
Freedom had been hunted round the globe; reason was considered as rebellion; and the slavery of fear had made men afraid to think. But such is the irresistible nature of truth, that all it asks, and all it wants, is the liberty of appearing.

Re: whats your music
For some reason, the subject of the “Nutcracker” (a waltz or musical score written for a ballet) came up. The Nutcracker is very famous, but I could not remember or put my finger on what it sounded like.
The first few seconds of a youTube search, instantly reminded me of its score. There might be 50 different renditions of Tchaikovsky's “Nutcracker” on YouTube, but this next one I found to be humorous. Wondering where the name came from, I could only imagine some male ballet dancer “doing the splits” or slipping on the floor – and thereby cracking his nuts...
Come to find out; the plot of the ballet involves a story-line where a wooden doll (commonly a wooden toy soldier and a functional tool for cracking tree nuts on the holidays) comes to life and dances.
*(In previous centuries without TV, people dressed up on special occasions and took long buggy rides into town; where they would socialize at operas, ballets or symphonies. They probably expected their money's worth from the night's entertainment – that is why these dated venues seem so drawn out or boring today).
Of course Tchaikovsky was one of the better composers during music's Romantic period. I had little difficulty remembering what his 1812 Overture sounded like. But like much of this period music, one has to sleep through the first 10 or 15 minutes before the pace picks up and the music finally gets interesting. The cannon fire doesn't occur until about 14:40 in the video below.
*(There must be 50 -60 YouTube renditions of this Overture. This particular one was interesting because of its slideshow. The artwork does not exaggerate the scale of the conflict. “Armies travel on their stomach” and such large armies raped and pillaged everything in sight as they traveled. Napoleon was foolish enough to invade Russia in the summer of 1812. The Grande Armée (his invasion force) exceeded 600,000 men; of whom about 380,000 perished).
This version is good too.

Last Friday, Saturday and Sunday my favorite punk rock band Victims Family played three shows. Nasalrod from Portland, Oregon opened all three. I went to all of them, Sacramento, Petaluma and San Francisco. Not as easy as when I was a young man, but worth every second of ringing ears.
If only the best birds sang, the woods would be silent.

Going to see TSO this weekend for our annual Christmas show:
These tunes are filling the still house as I mash in some HBB

I just read an article about the dangers of drinking that scared the crap out of me.
That’s it. No more reading!
