This is purely theoretical, I’m not planning on building one. I just found myself wondering today, has anyone tried making their own version of an air still? They seem popular for their small size and simplicity, but have questionable gaskets, no copper, no power control, and looks to me like it might be a little too compact for convenience - the spout being too close to the pot.
So what about building a small (~4 liter) still with an electric heat source, electric fans blowing over a copper coil, and a better seal? Maybe even include some sort of heat control. I’m guessing it could be done cheaper than you could but an air still.
I know Still It uses his for quite a few things on the channel. I’d probably use one if I had it, for making gin or other small batches. Would it even be something that the average hobbies would get any use out of? Or would this whole thing just be a slightly better version of a bad idea?

Homemade air still?
