South east meet up

Post by Dougmatt »

Anyone interest in a U.S. south east meetup early 2023? Thinking of some area’s in the GA / TN / NC mountains or perhaps SC / GA / north FL coastal areas.

If interested, we can adjust location and timing by attendees availability and weather.
I just read an article about the dangers of drinking that scared the crap out of me.

That’s it. No more reading!

I would definitely be interested! Sadly, my work schedule does not allow me to schedule much of anything, outside of vacations scheduled a year in advance, but if I am able to attend something like this last minute I would definitely do so.

Funny you brought this up. I’ve been thinking about the same thing, wishing there was a way to get together with some like-minded folks. If it happens, I’ll definitely try to attend. I’m in the NC Piedmont, and love spending time in the mountains. Asheville, Hendersonville, Waynesville are all favorites of ours.

I would love to participate in a Southeast meetup sometime this coming year.

I'm a 73 yr old retired geezer, so have a pretty flexible schedule. I'm about 30 minutes north of Asheville at 3200 ft elevation.

So far sounding like Asheville might be a good area. Will wait and see if anyone else responds.

What about Panama City Beach, FL? Lots of fun stuff to do plus it's just down right beautiful.

It's great that our members do these things. Reminds me that HD has created some real communities.

Obviously being in California I can't easily make it, but perhaps one day. I've been in the southeast before but only for business travel. I'd like to visit for the fun of it and meet some of our users someday.

I used to live there many moons ago. Had a house in Laguna Beach on the west end, and one just off Thomas drive. Now and then I get to missing Neptune's Saloon and especially the U-turn Sunburn Saloon. I still have a U-turn shirt from the 80s somewhere packed away. That HBB sounds pretty good right now.

Bumping this topic. Thinking a March meet up. Pm me or post here if you want to be included. Will try coordinating over PM once I see who all is interested. Thinking somewhere in NC based on responses thus far. I’m near Atlanta but we travel well and I have lots of hotel points to burn.

I would be interested in being part of this as well. I'm out of Middle TN, but have family in Middle NC. So I've got all sorts of excuses to end up in the Rockies if that's where we land.

I hope this happens! It would be great to be able to put faces with names (or pseudonyms, at least). I doubt I’ll have anything particularly impressive to share, but it won’t stop me from bringing the best I can muster.

Best to post a date and city, that way those that might go can make plans with job and family. Actual address, agenda, and phone numbers should stay in pms. Be safe guys.

Thanks SCD. We are planning the first week of April. The city is still TBD, but we are looking at something in the North GA mountains, near the border of NC, not far from TN such as the Hiawassee, GA area.

Anyone interested in more details, please post or PM Me.

Ha. Love NOLA and I would come almost anytime but then :D

Done my fair share of Mardi Gras over the years…. That time is just too insane of crowds, crazy hotel situation, and through the roof prices to do it anymore. It’s worse than Oktoberfest in Munich which is similarly crazy.

Thought you would want to get out of there during that time!

Although a bit of a hike for me, Ashville would be great. I've there before, and it would be a nice area to visit again.
I'll bring my fiddle cause they got lots of good music there as well.
Please keep my informed or on the list if someone is putting it together.
Sounds like fun.

Please include me in the details.

I have initiated a conversation with Steve, but i'm East Tennessee located and very interested.

I will be at the HillBilly Jam as well this year for Friday and Saturday.

Maybe I'll wear at 'Home Distiller' t-shirt so you can find me in the crowd and strike up a conversation!!

There are a few people who have asked for details via pm, however their only post is in the welcome center and when I try to reply it looks like it just sits in the outbox. Thinking that PM’s may require some level of post activity or something. If you want details and haven’t received a message, please respond to this thread so we can track it and make sure we get in touch with you.

Looking forward to seeing everyone.
