I had to revive this old thread before I could hijack it again. What motivated me to do so, was watching this animated movie called “Ferdinand” the other day. It is a modern remake of an old story about a bull that does not want to fight in the bullring. I've walked around the outside of a large bull fighting arena in Juarez as a kid, but I've never gone to a real bullfight.

Sorting through some trivial images the other day I found a few gory bullfighting pictures, but I'm sure that I have more somewhere else.

That last one is gnarly. I hope it's not just photoshopped. That matador got his come uppance there. Probably got his jaw ripped off. I never was much of a fan of bull fighting, it's a bit spineless and unfair. Bull vaulters are much more impressive and that takes mad skill....

I had the benefit of dating an equestrian vaulter many years ago. Woman was a human spring and absurdly powerful for a petite 5' 3". I had to wrestle and subdue her before she'd agree to be with me, I put her in a lock after 10 minutes of struggling but know she let me win, she could have snapped me in half.

Not a fan either but spineless is not an accurate term , been charged a time or three and so what was not one of the many thoughts racing through my mind.

I'd have greater respect for them if ONLY the matador fought the bull. By the time he gets in the ring they've already run the bull down pretty good and stuck it like a pin cushion. Granted the things pissed off and still dangerous but not quite as bad as it really could be. I'd like to see the bull fight where only the matador does the work.

An idea popped into my head recently. Could a diaphragm or bladder expansion tank successfully be modified into a fruit press.

Yep. Dick Butkus.

This next picture could have been taken anywhere. I'm thinking somewhere offshore of Peru or Chile.
See the surfer in the center of the picture? When a wave builds up like that it also sucks water away from the shoreline. Not too many people can surf water like that, and live over the ride.

Yep. Looks like you know a thing or two about surfing.

Here is a photo of Fort of São Miguel Arcanjo; taken from the opposite direction.

It appears that an undersea canyon just off the coast sets up those gigantic waves.

And that the current world record (2020) for a big wave surfed there was 26.2 m (86 ft) from trough to crest.

I learn something every day.

I ran across this image in my meanderings online this morning. Among other things, I noticed that all the horses in this 5.27 century old woodcut – were shod. If you look at what the riders are wielding, you'll see a bow, a sword, balance scales and a trident (not a scythe).
Distracted enough to search more, I found another work by this illustrator; but it is 15 years younger and more highly detailed, perhaps because it is etched into a metal plate – rather than a wood block. Both methods were used for relief printing, which was still very much in its infancy.

Metal horseshoes are older than I realized. This little website explains.

As far as other paintings of the Four Horseman go, there is much variation. But the horses as well as the riders should have distinguishing features, as in color (white, red, black and pale). Some of the newer paintings don't pick up on the details.

I was browsing through RUMBLE, looking for anything interesting. I happened upon a Dan Bongino video entitled “The Most Frightening Article I’ve Ever Read”; (04/11/2023). Rather than listen to Dan blab for 56 minutes, I Googled up the paper and its writer that Dan mentioned in his introduction, and read the paper in less than 3 minutes.

AI is creepy. Below are some pictures made with the assistance of AI that I saved from a few days previous. Obviously here, some human had control over certain parameters, before the computer modified the pictures.

This thread > because it has no topic...

Bubble lipped women are popping up everywhere. Never payed much attention before - because it was not that common before, perhaps.

I've always thought that Angelina Jolie's lips were too big for her face. I thought she might have inherited her looks from her mother. Then, judging by their big balloon lips, I thought she might be distantly related to that tribe of bimbos named Kardashian. Nope on both counts.

By far the most notorious, most lethal neurotoxin known to mankind is named after the Latin word, for sausage. This neurotoxin sits on “Tier 1”, near the top of the HHS Select Agents and Toxins registry. This bacterium (Clostridium botulinum) has an amazing formula: (C6760 H10447 N1743 O2010 S32).

I thought I was dumb, but these self-infatuated women spend real fortunes in hard cash to have themselves periodically injected with this poison. An injection's effect only last for a few months, then it needs to be repeated. There is no strange mutation occurring with Angelina and the Kardashians. They just believe that “lip flips” and lip-plumping makes them look sexy, rather than unnatural.
.

End of today's rant.

While I personally agree with your opinion of the aesthetic implications of such procedures, I long ago realized that my opinion doesn’t matter to these women any more than theirs matters to me. It makes them happy (hopefully), so more power to them. And the more people chose to look freakish, the more rare and valuable looking unmodified will be. I stand out now, just by choosing not to stand out!

I bought 200 2ltr plastic bottles to store my low wines at a discount closeout. Do I need to buy copper lids for them, or will packing my parrot with mesh be sufficient when I do the final run on my digitally thermostatically controlled boiler?

I asked ChatGPT, but it said it was generating porn for someone in the boiler room of the insane asylum and couldn't be bothered.

I got a text from the ladies who do my hair; but mainly women's hairdos.
Anyway it was an offer, for nearly three hundred bucks, to do some fancy colour and style work.

From now on I will have more respect for stylish ladies!
