Raicilla on Oak

Post by Tōtōchtin »

I learned a lot this weekend going up into our mts. to get some more Raicilla. I spoke with my friend about his upcoming runs and how long I will be working. He started pulling out some of his work for me to try. One was a jug of raicilla that had been in an oak barrel for 20 years. Tasted nothing like raicilla, It was a little bit lighter color then most bourbons, slightly sweet, but tasted like a very nice brandy. He had another that was a bit dry with the slight taste of walnuts. Pleasant but the first one was off the chart in flavor. Never experienced a mezcal like that before. I ran into this hobby too late in life....
