Any other bikers?

Post by frunobulax »

No, not motorcycles, though I do have a Roadking.
My "GOOD" hobby which offsets some of my others, like making and consuming (alot) of Beer and Booze, Is Bicycling
The road bike is a Specialized Tarmac SL4 With a full Dura-Ace group set, with Dura Ace tubeless rims and Schwalbe Pro-1 tires. It's just under 16lbs.
The Mountain bike is a Yeti SB-95 with 29" Mavic SL rims and a Shimano XT group set. About 29 lbs.

Ha here in the pacific northwest the weather just turned nice for riding, got out today for first of season ride (little 50 mile lake loop) - I'm out of shape, the ride nearly killed me but the beers at the end made it worthwhile.

Here are my two rides:

Custom Obrien -Campy super record , mavic rims, Conti tubular's - just around 12lbs

Custom Obrien converted into a fixie -old school Campy super record , mavic rims Conti tubulars - hovering around 10lbs

Good riding

Just saw this post. Yes, I ride a bike. I haven't had the time to get back into it since my daughter was born. But I still do try to get out some. I've done some touring in the northwest and Canada. I've road in Ireland, France, Germany, and rode ln New Zealand two different times. I also dabbled in mountain bike racing, and raced Triathalons for years. And was lucky enough to race in the Ironman in Hawaii. It seems like a lifetime ago. I hope in the future to get out more. Now my passions are making that perfect bottle of Scotch, Bourbon, or brandy. I've still got some learning to do but love this sport!

Oh. I also have this.

It's a bamboo framed bike. Rides like a Cadillac.
It's made in Africa for Calfee bikes.

This bike was made in Uganda and the Bamboo sourced locally. Yes it's a bamboo frame, but but the lugs are made with local material also. The most common twine there is made from hemp weed. So I have a bamboo bike with marijuana lugs!
Put that in your pipe and smoke it!
Haha!

That is a class bike. I cycle myself and have done so on and off for years. I bought a nice road bike last year but unfortunately it has had a good life so far. I need to dust it down, oil it up and roast my arse on the saddle. Work, 3 young kids and laziness all have to be overcome. Believe it or not looking at this thread has rekindled my will to put up a few miles. Safe cycling to all of you. Jim

11000 miles! Awesome.
I thought I did a lot at 5k. I've been doing alot of Zwift this time if year, though I did my first outdoor road ride 2 days ago.
That Specialized frame I had cracked at the drop outs a couple years ago (height of the pandemic) and I put the DA group set on a Felt frame.
The frame had a lifetime warranty, except for corrosion, and at the time Specialized had aluminum drop outs. Guess where it cracked.

I commute mostly. Six days a week 15.5 mile each way. Weather be damned.

It’s amazing how we will rip ourselves apart climbing a mountain But the rush of bombing down makes it worthwhile 🤣. 50+mph on a bike makes people do a double take.
Did a 116 mile with 11k ft of climbing this summer. Looking at a 200 miler this coming summer

So you don't mean bikers.
You mean bicyclists.
If it's got hide or hair, I can ride it.
Wheels or tracks, I can drive it.
Rotor or fixed wings, I can fly it.
And if it's grain or fruit, i can make a drop outta it!

In my area, we're called "targets."

I've been hit twice by cars. The last incident had the EMT's strap me to a backboard, fearing spinal trauma, just as my sister-in-law drove past and recognized me (in a way, I still laugh about that part). Yet I ride nearly every day.

Currently on a Cannondale Trail 7 and about to go ride my local double-track now.
