As a youth my mother would run after me with the bottle of iodine for cuts and scrapes. And I would complain -- the nature of youth. Kind of make me smile.
So now I need to purchase some iodine for a starch test. What is sold seems to be tincture of iodine at the 2% to 3% level. There is something called POVIDONE-IODINE 10 % which apparently is iodine with other chemicals acting as a disinfectant.
Could somebody provide guidance regarding strength of the product to work for a starch test?
A source would also be appreciated if it is hard to get.
Does it have to he 100% iodine?

Re: Iodine question
I have the 2% iodine from Walgreens. It should last you a long time.

Re: Iodine question
Thanks to all who responded. Yummyrum had a link to the exact topic with good information.
What I did not understand is that storage in a dark and cooler environment is recommended and mixing prior to usage is probably recommended.
Again, thanks to everyone who responded.

This is a video I made to test 2 different products: iodine tinture vs povidone iodine (many trade names, for example iodophor)
