10,000 posts

Post by still_stirrin »

OK, here I am 9-1/3 years as a member and this is my 10,000th post. I figure I read probably 20 posts for every one I reply to, making my eyes pretty “bloody”… for those of you without a calculator, that would make 200,000 thread posts read in 9-1/3 years, or about 58 posts per day. That’s a lot of reading.

And while I read a lot of threads, I don’t start very many. I would guess that in my time here, I’ve started about a dozen threads, mostly build threads not questions. Obviously, for me the forum is about helping other hobbyists as well as learning what I can from everyone. To the “old guys” who’ve been here through my journey, “thanks for sharing” and especially, “thanks for putting up with me”. I’ve learned a lot here.

No, I’m not going away. I simply wanted to memorialize this milestone post as an incentive for new members to “read till your eyes bleed” as well as remind everyone that “every question has been asked and answered multiple times” because it has. So, be patient and keep searching for your answers.

Cheers all.

You're going to have to pick up your reading pace.

At the rate you're going you could finish reading the 982000 or so current posts in about 40 more years.

Oh, and there will be a quiz when you get there.

Good Luck :D

Epic milestone, ss.

Also, I'd be lying if I said you didn't inspire me to dig deeper into the physics/chemistry of this hobby. Your contributions here have no equal. A big thank you for sharing your knowledge over these many years.

A few of those 10,000 were answers to questions I’ve asked, and I’m eternally grateful for them. Just as you said, that is for putting up with me. I hope one day that I can be as helpful as you’ve been.

Freedom had been hunted round the globe; reason was considered as rebellion; and the slavery of fear had made men afraid to think. But such is the irresistible nature of truth, that all it asks, and all it wants, is the liberty of appearing.

Thanks all for the kind and generous bumps. Y’all have helped me get here. And Yummy made me smile with the “grumpy old fart” call out, because I have been that way once in a while. I try, but sometimes I just have thin skin when answering the same question for the um-teenth time. I know … take a deep breath before trying to answer. Ha … I’ll try (really).

So, sorry I’ve been off the boards for a couple of days. It’s wheat harvest time here so I’m called to come help. Doesn’t pay much but I can take as much fresh wheat as I want. 55 lb. is about 1 bushel and the current price is $8+ USD / bushel. So, a couple of bags don’t amount much to the farm but will invariably be returned in the form of some spirit, beit a beer or a whiskey. Corn harvest is in the fall, so that likewise gives me plenty of fresh corn for brewing.

Anyway, thank you all for the comments here. But, it’s time for me to get back to the important business of our hobby. So, we can let this thread mature and expire.

Cheers.
