Interesting article on rums evolution

Definitely tempted to try making some primordial rum... or something close to historically accurate.

Interesting write up for sure. :thumbup:
I'd be interested if anyone can supply a picture of a Creole Column, my search attempts failed to find anything that didn't look a lot like a normal plated column still.
I'm interested to see the difference between the two.

Seems they took a coffey style continuous still and stacked the columns rather then side by side.

Love learning the history of rum, thanks for sharing. Reminds me of a book I bought a few years ago and posted parts of it here every week.

I'm interested to see the difference between the two.
I think the vendome continous columns would be considered a "creole column" based on some past reading. Lots of stripping plates below the beer feed with a short rectification above the feed. Some drawings show doublers some don't. (I could be wrong)

@bolverk in the last pic one on right looks very familiar have seen those lying in ruin in rum documentaries on the caribbean rum revolution...

Funny when looking for the first pic I came across this old coffey and it's a shame it's not in being used either.
