Newbie with roots

56 years old disabled veteran. I am of Scot/German/Norse ancestry and I am from the mountains of eastern Kentucky. My maternal grandfather who raised my from 3 years old was a moonshiner starting in the early 1930s. I grew up listening to his exploits and experiences as an illegal distiller and even searching for his still as a teen (but never finding it). I did however find his worm in the attic of a small out-building as I was tearing it down just this year. Getting ready to try distillation for the first time, came here first to read and learn.
