Nice work bilgriss, every new member who has previous beer making experience should read your post before proceeding further.
Your right, we see the same mistakes over and over again, by "experienced" brewers.
Try to share a good experience and thank the forum for the help and still get a negative snarky reply. I think I'll just stay read-only from now on....

I have to say Zacher, that wasn't a snarky comment at all, a lot of folks get into this armed with a ton of home brewing experience and fall victim to similar mistakes. bilgriss admitted to being one of those, and SBB was simply recognizing that it's okay to admit it. we've all been there.

Im glad you we able to find a connection on fresh feed corn so local. We should all be so lucky.

I am one of those brewers that got bad information elsewhere and got set straight thanks to finding this forum. Now thanks to my research and reading here, I feel that I'm on the right track. So maybe I just read it the wrong way, or I chose the wrong week to quit drinking.....

I was indeed commenting on my own experience. As a home brewer for decades, I figured distillation would be just a few additional steps in the process, and what I knew about barley mashes for beer was probably already on target. I was wrong, although once I figured more out, that experience was also very helpful.

If you do a google search against the forum for the phrase "Read till your eyes bleed", you will find an immense number of returned threads. The implied message is that it's very important to expose yourself to so much information and repetitive answers to questions that it becomes intuitive. Once you hit that point, it's far easier to make progress, safely.

Wish you the best of luck!
