forgotten to make first cuts

Post by cnk »

For the first time ever I have forgotten to take off the the first 50 ml of distillate. Can I put it back in the still and then discard the first 50 ml or do I need to do more than that?

Certainly can do that but I would just leave out the first jar entirely since it ends up in the feints anyway which will end up redistilled anyway.

The reason to discard is to prevent an ever increasing concentration of foreshots in the feints.

Agree with above unless:

A) this is a strip run and you didn’t do cuts in which case just toss a little more on the sprit run.
B) you did a single run with NO CUTs in which case read about cuts on this board and start over.
I just read an article about the dangers of drinking that scared the crap out of me.

That’s it. No more reading!

Are you making cuts, or just keeping all that comes out? The fores would just be in the first jar of heads. You won't be drinking or blending that away, rite? Was it a stripping run or spirit run? viewtopic.php?t=11640
