That's great MooseMan. Those should last you a long time. Wish I'd find a deal like the otw home from work.

Three Glencairn glasses for $NZ 6 all-up is a bonus.

Nice score, I was given 4 of those some years ago, I use them a fair bit....they are worth a fair bit more new.

It's more of a good deal I'm dreaming of than a good deal I got, but there is an auction in North Dakota next week that has enough tri-clamps and fittings to supply the entire membership of these boards: https://www.bidspotter.com/en-us/auctio ... rabin10195
(See lots 89-115, 281-301 and quite a few between them.)

It's a bit of a trek for most of us, I'm afraid.

I’m not sure how I went so long without one of these bottle washers. I picked it up this morning and it saved me a lot of time today washing a bunch of jars and bottles. It was a good deal at any price.
Damn, I've been searching for it too, but the price never matches my budget. Since I only need it once a year or so, it needs to be very affordable. (free)

I hauled some iron to the scrap dealer yesterday. While waiting to get paid for the scrap I noticed a 10 foot stick of 2" copper pipe, brand new next to their scrap copper pile. I picked it up for $17 US.

Yesterday, I was driving down the road and noticed a gas grill someone had placed on the street. I also noticed it had a decent propane bottle with it. So I stopped and grabbed the bottle which is more than half full :D Since all 6 of my other bottles are currently empty and I was going to cook steaks for dinner it turned out to be exactly what I needed

My wife says I'm a "Propane tank hoarder".
I'm always on the lookout for a free, serviceable tank.
I've got four 30 pound tanks and five 20 pound tanks. If the refill stations I frequent won't fill one due to expiration, I exchange it for one from a propane exchange.
Last time I did that, I scored a brand new tank in exchange for one that was at least 15 years old.

I am surprised that let you take just the propane tank and not the whole grill when marked free?

Well... :problem: ...there was nothing that said "must take all"... ...and nobody around to say I couldn't so I figured the scrappers will take whats left of the old worn out rusty grill.

Nice bottle!

There's a Rum in the UK that's sold in bottles like that but with 2x finger holes in, I really want some!

Have you had Kraken, MooseMan? I tried some, on the recommendation of a friend. On its own, it’s not my rate, but I thought that the combination of vanilla, caramel, and spices reminded me a lot of Coke, so unused to to make a rum & coke (well, rum and rum). It worked well enough.

I've found a few of those in the bottle dumpster lately. I don't take them because they have screw caps and not corks.

Was grocery shopping a couple weeks ago, and someone asked if I'd like a sample of rum... well "heck yes, I would!" I ended up buying a bottle of the Kraken, and I will say as a Captain and occasional Captain Black drinker, it was pretty dang tasty! If it wasn't more expensive than my usual bottle of Captain, I'd have been a convert.

Then I got my first still going, and now, I have my first fermenter of rum starter started, lol! I have been reading a literal SH!T ton about dunder and muck pits... this is gonna be so fun! I'm just sad I didn't keep the bottle and figure out a stopper/cap...

Yes I Am! :ewink:

I now only use a few different bottles that have corks and don't have anybody's name on it once the labels are removed. Pretty much the only bottles I use any more are Casa Noble, Big Gin, Empress Indigo, Oban Little Bay and Monkey Shoulder, wine and cider go in Domaine Ste Michelle Brut bottles. Everything else I've accumulated over the years is in the process of being thrown out...including the 2 Kraken bottles I had

Someone posted these on one of the brewing groups recently. They let you convert some of the more fun bottles (or cheap beer bottles) into flip top. Neat idea.

Not a "Deal" as such but a nice score.

We've had a stock check in the labs this week at work, and there were 5x bottles of absolute ethanol that had been opened and passed their use by date for purity, so they have to be disposed of.

No prizes for guessing who "Disposed" of them!

I found a vodka bottle from Skip Rock Distillery at the local recycling center recently. They're in our neck of the woods and their bottles are nice, so maybe you'll run into one. Haven't had their spirits and no connection, but like the bottles.

Last post was I whining about ali ripping me off. This week the tide turned and I bought 60 m. of 5/8 flex copper tubing for $25 US and 1) 3" and 2) 2" tube insulation that's 1" thick x 8' for $1 apiece. Insulation is a bit of an overkill for coastal tropical weather. Coldest night I've experienced was 62* F.
If you're in Mexico hit me up this company has no clue what they got. I think it's run by people with bent noses.

Well this ain’t a deal unless you can’t fabricate. And here in canada NOBODY cares, I think when they made a certain flower legal here, everyone just accepted it.

Numerous 57L kegs, some propane, one 220v electric with stilldragon controller. Keggle for all-Grain, two pot still tops for whisky, a 3" reflux with deflag for vodka. Coming up, a 4" perf plate column. Life is short, make whisky and drag race!

I got a good deal on Thursday, picked up an industrial milling machine and all the tooling and accessories for $1800 because the owner of the machine shop died and the kids don’t have a clue!! Missed the 8’ lathe that they sold for $1200😢😢

Is this bridgeport style? It can't be cnc for that price. I'm an xmachinist and would love a bridgeport for my garage. Great find

I really like that shape of bottle, and they tend to become my most reused bottles on the bar. I've been picking a few Pursuit Distillery bottles from the alley of the tasting room. These tend to get filled and gifted. I like the treescape pained on the bottles.

Mrs Cranky is still kind of new to having siblings since she was raised an only child so I have been coaching her a bit.

Her sister has been successfully on a diet for six months or so, so Mrs Cranky decided it would be a good thing for an older sister to buy her younger sister an 11 Lbs chocolate bar for Christmas.

I think she is catching on to how to be a big sister

This chocolate bar is $90 on Amazon but at Restaurant Depot it's only $50...but we don't have an account :(

Fortunately Restaurant Depot still allows non members to get a free one day pass so today we went down there and I bought two 11# chocolate bars, one for Mrs Cranky's sister and the other for us :D

Some of Ya'll might be interested in taking advantage of that one day pass to Restaurant Depot for other things like sugar for Christmas cookies and baking supplies like grains and such for Christmas baking :D

Today after work I had to face the madhouse that is Safeway right before Christmas. Of course it was busy but I managed. Then since there were only 2 checkouts open, each with a long line, I had to use self check. Because I was using self check I had to walk past the coinstar machine. Whenever I walk past the coin star I always have to check it for any coins left behind in the tray. Coinstar is very good at rejecting foreign coins but something else they reject are silver American coins, so it pays to check them.

Today was a good day because I reached in and got a whole handful of coins and could see by the edges I had at least one silver dime :D

Instead of stopping and looking through them I put all the coins in my pocket and waited until I got home to check them. It turns out there were actually two silver dimes, a 1951 and a pretty nice 1943 Mercury.
Dimes 23 Dec 23-C.png
This may be my first Mercury and is definitely my first one from a coin star. In addition to those there were a couple of Canadian dimes and a little over a dollar in mixed coins.
