Re: Random Pics
Took this photo a few days ago when passing.
Some google fodder for those interested in Aussie history/ stories BILL THE BULLOCKY
(By "Bowyang York").
As I was coming down Conroy's Gap
I heard a maiden cry:
"There goes Bill the Bullocky,
He's bound for Gundagai.
A better poor old ———
Never cracked an honest crust;
A tougher poor old ———
Never drug a whip through dust.
"His team got bogged at the five mile creek,
Bill lashed and swore and cried,
'If Nobby don't get me out of this
I'll tattoo his ——— hide.'
But Nobby strained and broke his yoke,
And poked out the leader's eye;
And the dog sat in the tucker box
Five miles from Gundagai."[4]
That poem was generally considered rude and vulgar, although still less so than popularly sung versions, where the dog shat in instead of sat on the tucker-box.[5]

Re: Random Pics
Was sitting on the back porch of the local watering hole and heard a commotion near my car. Found this miscreant scratching my paint.

Re: Random Pics
Cool hawk. At first I thought it was a Cooper's Hawk, or maybe a Swainson's Hawk. But it is more likely to be just a young Red-tail, (even though its tail is not red). Different hawks can exhibit wide variations in phases (coloration).

Pretty sure it's a redtail, lots of the in the area. I don't get that close to them very often. Decided it could be a bad idea to shoo him off. Just let him sit on the car as long as he wantedcontrahead wrote: ↑Fri Oct 20, 2023 7:23 am Cool hawk. At first I thought it was a Cooper's Hawk, or maybe a Swainson's Hawk. That's fresh cow dung in the picture; that has been slapped upon a stone wall, to accelerate its drying. Once dried, it will be used for cooking fuel and heat. Fagots also lean against the wall at the right side of the image.

Traditional drink for my cousins Christmas party next weekend. Silver cups were a gift to me this year by the widow of my wife's doctor who was a good friend of her dad.
This is his recipe for mint julep.
Cheers to GA!!!

This is a Wikipedia picture, and a curious one. (Reminds one of rural poverty in China / and perhaps of Pearl S. Bucks 1931 Pulitzer Prize winning book – The Good Earth).

Re: Random Pics
As a teen, I spent some time hiking with a club, in the deserts of Arizona. Out maybe 45 miles from a road, up perhaps in the rocky “Superstitions” - with nothing woody to burn that didn't have thorns in it; except for a few cow chips. They burn pretty evenly in fact, and don't smell to bad either. I've cooked several meals over a such a fire. Cowboy stuff 101. Doesn't mean that I'm ready to smoke malted grains or grill steaks over them, just yet.

Re: Random Pics
I ran across this picture quiet innocently just now (searching for wagon pictures). Thought it would fit in here, in company with the other cow chips.
