Hi all
I’ve been browsing for a while and today purchased my first still (kegland pot still) so thought I better join.
I actually work in the industry, as you can guess by the name I was a brewer. I now work for a global company who manufactures active dried yeast. My background is engineering and I was a brewer for 10 years. For me distilling has always been a dark art but since I now work with distillers and my growing love of whisky means I’m now fully wanting to understand spirit manufacturing.
I think the whisky boom we are seeing is incredible, it reminds me very much of the early days of craft brewing, so much innovation.
I’m happy to learn and if I can answer any questions on yeast and nutrition I’m happy to share my knowledge. Looking forward to getting to know everyone and absorbing your experiences and insights.
Cheers
Jim

Re: Hello
Welcome.
Seems some of the boys will welcome the experience you've gained.
If you are a dogmatic brewer you may be a bit put off by distillers beer?
It'll make sense soon.
Have access.

Re: Hello
Welcome! Your training and experience will serve you well, but compared to brewing this is going to be a picnic.
After you get settled in I want to pick your brain. I am curious if some of the specialy Distillers yeasts with low acetaldehyde characteristics could make a significant differences if available to hobby volume brewers and Distillers.
