Hello All,
I’m a hobby hopper and whiskey drinker that was always curious about this and everything really. I may or may not have a bit of ADHD but I love deep diving into a hobbies or DIY project and learning all that I can. Learning is most of the fun. I especially love hobbies that give me something edible from it.
I’m excited about this as the more I read the more it seems I need to dig deeper on. From still types to recipes it’s been fun so far, but haven’t actually run anything yet.
Currently building modifications on a Chinese pot still and already have some interesting info,
. I plan to strictly adhere to the no plastic, silicone, brass rules so the majority of it arrived as trash. Something I know now but didn’t a bit ago. I’ve also learned there are not many fittings that are not brass and fit into the holes, or that a stainless steel thermometer is not actually stainless.
Anyways, threw out the condenser and building an open lid condensor with maybe 10 feet of 1/2 copper coil in a 5 gallon bucket. Having trouble attaching it to lid, but all the better to learn on. Got some stainless steel cast fittings which may work. I’d rather not braze or solder it but that’s likely my next step.
Anyways, that’s enough rambling for now, back to reading till my eyes bleed.
Good day to all
