Many like to post about a first successful ferment (or first all grain mash), or first still built/bought or first good run of the still. Tell us about all of these great times here.
Pics are VERY welcome, we drool over pretty copper
I think I would call this a gasket. I ordered some PTFE sheets and thought they would be puffy, like the PTFE tape I used to replace the silicone gasket in my Vevor, but they were thin and not puffy at all. I was going to ask how I get that in a sheet, but figured I would use the search first and found this thread:
so I made one and it works great! I use these 2 gal jugs to store my low wines in, but it's glass on glass and when carrying it upstairs, it tends to slosh about and leak out onto my clothes. I thought with a gasket, that would solve the problem and it did.

I use the same gasket on my gin still, I have to make a new one about once a year.
that's not bad. I wasn't sure how long this would last. I spent like $1.80 on 2 rolls. I used 1 roll to make this one. I'll make another one. At a buck a gasket once a year I think it's worth it.
I am still using my original one on my 4 gallon pot from 11 years ago - Just a few new wraps when I feel like it. Like Sadie, I also use on my glass aging jars.
I have started to melt a little beeswax on the gasket as well to help seal - don't like greedy angels
I’ve been looking for an option to replace the silicone gasket in a tower site-glass. Have not ordered it yet but I found this EPTFE,
The photo shows that is fairly thick, but it’s unspecified. And 25’ is enough for several gaskets. You need about 10” for a 4” gasket, so maybe about 30. That would be about $1.33/gasket. Not bad.
