I’ve been fermenting one thing or another ever since I was introduced to this magical process as part of an elementary school science project. I was right about ten years old at the time. I was thoroughly amazed and completely hooked. In the ensuing years there’s always been something bubbling away in my place. Guaranteed, I was the only kid in my High School who didn’t have to beg some oldster to buy them beer, I just made my own. In all that time I never explored the world of distillation. Don’t know why, just didn’t. That was until the fates conspired to put me the position of having opportunity, the means and the inclination to get started down the path. I’ve been at it now for a couple of years and I’ve had a blast.
I only produce for immediate family consumption and we really don’t drink much. So I scale my ferments around 30 liters and that has proven to provide just about the perfect amount for la familia. Right now I primarily run my pot still that I cobbled together from various components and have been having fun trying out as many different recipes as I can.
Over the years I have come to the internet for ideas and information on the topic of distillation and 100% of the time homedistiller.org would show up in the search results. It finally dawned on me that might be a good idea to join the conversation. So hello folks, here I am.
