First run is in the books!

Many like to post about a first successful ferment (or first all grain mash), or first still built/bought or first good run of the still. Tell us about all of these great times here.
Pics are VERY welcome, we drool over pretty copper 8)

First run is in the books!

Post by ssobel80 »

Was able to get my first run done last night! Had 5 gallons of UJSSM ready to go started at a 1.080 ended at 1.000. I’m sure I could have gotten that a little lower if I gave it a few more days but since this was just my first sacrificial run and I was excited I went with it! Was able to pull 5 pints after discarding the first 100ml. First pint proofed at 140 and each pint after that went down a little more than 10 proof for each one. The final jar dropped quit a bit more and started getting cloudy so I cut it off then. Was definitely neat to see, smell and feel the changes through the run. Can’t wait to add taste to that!
