Just ran off a new variation on old recipe and, damn me, it turned out to my liking. Something good happened here.
Pot stilled with thumper. In an 9 gal (+/-) mash of spring water:
12 lb fine ground corn
1/2 lb 2 row
3 lb 6 row
1 lb flaked oats
3 lb malted white wheat
1 3/4 lb rye powder
I hit my numbers at 06 and fermented dry. Charged my thumper with 1/2 gal of feints and 1/2 gal of water. Nice slow, steady run began at 83 ABV and finished in the 20’s. Delicious out of the spout. Can’t wait for oakink.
I did waste a bit of the wash because I ground the corn too fine and created a slurry mess. I squeezed it and settled it using Sparkloid an 10 days rest. But still lost a good bit in the “mud” at the bottom.
