Correct Temp of Mash to Distill

Hello all, I am new to the site but have distilled a few times. I live in the southeast and I have an 8 gallon stainless still with a 2 inch reflux tower. I ran 5 gallons of corn mash and only got 2 quarts. I started ar 174, then 176 and finally 178. Had to increase to keep distilling. Any suggestions on how to get 4 to 6 quarts?
