PNW meet and drink June 2024

Post by OtisT »

I’m starting a new thread for the coming PNW Meet & Drink in Eugene, Oregon this June 22. The gathering starts at 11 AM.

Chris at Badmotivator Legacy Barrels has offered up his shop for the event.

Badmotivator Legacy Barrels
490 Seneca Rd
UNIT 10
Eugene, OR 97402

Chris is cooking up some meat and asks folks to bring sides and of course, drinks too.

I plan on attending and am looking forward to seeing some old friends and meeting some new ones.

Thanks for starting a new thread, OtisT. I was having a hard time filtering through all the messages myself.

As we approach the one-year anniversary of Ben's passing, I wanted to share that I made a tribute rum for him. This rum includes some of Ben's last run and a Panela rum I made with his best friend, Alfredo. If anyone would like to contribute, I'm filling a barrel for Cheryl and the kids.

Ben shared so much wisdom with all of us. This is my way of giving some of that spirit and wisdom back to the family.

Thank you! I'll see you there. If you want to stop by around 10, I definitely won't complain. Thanks for the help.

I'm also excited about the possibility of a vineyard tour sometime soon.

A heads up for folks that aren't familiar with the area. There is a Fred Meyer just down the street from the shop. It's a really nice store with great selection in case we need anything.

Chris, do you need us to bring anything specific? Chairs? Stuff for eating on/with? Let us know and we’ll get volunteers.

Everyone, I’m excited to see you all. I did all my proofing and bottling this weekend and am looking forward to sharing.

Ah! New thread, excellent.
I suppose I'll whip up some street corn, outside of smoked meats, it's one of the things I've become known for making (S89 still hasn't stopped talking about it since last year)

I have some white panela rum that I can share for the barrel. Also going to bring down the Madrona barrel (and other things)

I'm short on chairs right now. If you have any folding chairs at home, I'd really appreciate it if you could bring them.

I'll pick up some plates, napkins, and silverware from the store and have them ready. If you have a preferred tasting glass, you might want to bring it along.

As The Booze Pipe mentioned, we're just a couple of blocks from Fred Meyer, so we can easily send someone out if we need anything.

For a side I’ll bring dinner rolls and I’ll be sure to bring my own chair and a drinking glass.

I have a few chairs I can bring. I'll be bring deviled eggs using eggs from our chickens.

My offer still stands if anyone wants to stop by after the event or the next day to see our small vineyard and try wine. We have a lot of Pinot Noir that my wife and I will never be able to drink in our lifetime. Can't sell it so we just give it away. We're about 20 minutes north off of hwy 99.

We could accommodate a person or two is anyone needs to crash for the night.

Wish I was able to stay longer to see your place, but I need to be back in Portland Saturday night. Thanks for the offer, but I’ll have to pass this time.

Glad your bringing eggs. That’s normally my go-to side dish, and they always go fast.

I'll just bring a couple cases of wine instead. That way anyone who would want any can have some.

Yes, eggs are a good thing to bring. Never any leftovers to bring back.

I'm in the same boat as Otis but with a bit further drive, I have to be back in Seattle Sunday morning for work. I will take you up on your offer on a future date, as someone who has worked in the valley for smallish winery I would love to tour your vineyard.

I'm still thinking what sides to bring, maybe some pickled veggies for an offset to the BBQ?

Also does anyone need any copper? I have some 2 and 3 inch that I could bring down - let me know.

Be safe
