hello from southern Ontario.
my background / experience with distillation started using glassware for chemistry. familiar with short path and vacuum distillations, using a rotovap and got really really into steam distillation of essential oils ands isolating the various components using fractioning column. occasionally we would need azeo , or even *pure* alcohols ( sidenote: thank goodness for zeolytes.. i feel bad for people in times before those were a widely known and accessible thing). covid brough shortages and sky high prices , and that led to getting a turbo 500 and copious amounts of sugar. i think fermentation is great, because i can give single cell organisms enough food to live, and in exchange they devote their lives to doing complex chemistry work for me.
fast forward to now, and i hardly ever touch glassware, but ive fallen in love with craft distilling. most of what ive learned has been here, reading over the last few years. I try and focus on one type of liquor at a time, until im satisfied. i've for the most part left the t500 behind , and built a pot still, then a slant plant lm, then found a (barely big enough) ball valve to add a vm takeoff below that. I've played around with cooling and liquid and vapor for reflux management, and have a fairly good grasp on what's going on with each one
finally decided to join since ive reached a point were i have have some questions that i haven't been able to find and answer for in existing posts, at least not explicitly. that being said i dont think the idea i have underlying said questions can be that original of thought, so was hoping to get some help from more people more experienced than me.
cheers

Re: new member saying hello
thanks! The tried and true have been a huge help so far.
the ideas im having trouble wrapping my head around currently pertain to how potential combinations of coolant management techniques could potentially be appliedsimultaneously , and or, in tandem, during the same run. And, if were viable, said combinations ideal configurations.
trying to figure out where best place to make that post would be .
cheers
