Hello group,
Although I'm an older fella, I just started my distilling efforts. I have made wine for many years, but this is pretty new to me.
I am starting with a 5 gallon Vevor with the thumper and worm. So far, I have only done one effort and used cracked corn and malted 2 row barley. Added the yeast and some nutrient.
The stripping run told me that I need a spirit run, so did that and threw away the foreshots and tails (all thanks to the great information on this site). The proofs started at 160 and I collected unti the proof was 100. I hae ordered some oak chips and will try aging with that.
