Hello there,
I finally upgraded my still to 25L (half keg)
I have Tefal induction hob https://www.amazon.co.uk/Tefal-IH20184 ... 305&sr=8-8
But it’s only works when your pot aligns with circle lines on hob otherwise it gives me an error.
Anyone could recommend induction hob that can be used with half of a keg pretty please! Thanks

Your best option is to put an element into the side of the keg, that's what pretty much everyone ends up doing.

Re: Induction Hob question
You could get a diffuser plate [available off Amazon or wherever]. The induction heater heats the diffuser and the diffuser heats the pot, assuming there is enough contact area to the pot. It's usually stainless steel & it works well with induction heat units. I have one that I used to use but tbh the induction cooktop would cycle too widely on/off even on wattage settings that I gave up on it after a few runs. Something with a more controllable static power input is def better, like gas or an internal "electric water heater" with power control as suggested above. I will say that a 1/4 barrel [25l] can be tough to add an element tho due to the tight radius. Some "manual shaping" may be necessary [bang bang bang]

Re: Induction Hob question
Is your keg the normal style or the tall skinny version?
This is a normal style 7.5 gal keg I made into a boiler.
I had a 2" Tri-Clamp ferrule welded as low as I could through the side of this keg.
Turns out it takes about 2.75 gallons just to cover the element. I've read many times where people claim to have installed elements lower somehow, but I've never seen them show exactly how they they did.
So if you do install an element in the keg, just consider the volume you intend to fill it, how much will exit the still and don't forget how much is required to keep the element covered.

Good call SMF - I was thinking of the log-style, that's all I see in my area. Don't need much volume to keep it covered. Haven't seen a squat-style in years.
