What did I buy?
Hello, super new to distilling. Just bought a 15 gal reflux still from brewhaus. I did my cleaning run, broke it down and put it up for the time being. I found what I knew (even as a novice) was a crazy deal. I picked all of this up for 400 dollars. All I wanted was 1 fermenter (40 gallon SS brewtech conical) but walked out with the lot. The only problem is, I don’t know what most of it is! Any help identifying/ usefulness would be much appreciated. If post is not allowed please delete.

Thanks, I was trying to add multiple pictures of everything but files were to large (new to the site and learning) so I just edited the post to one picture showing everything I got.Deplorable wrote: ↑Mon Oct 14, 2024 4:53 pm Its a dickfer.![]()

Re: What did I buy?
Looks like a good score for $400, the 2 fermenters alone are worth more than that.
other than the vacuum pump and the fermenters Im not sure what the other square things are.

I know one thing is a scale that will drop whatever amount you choose into a bag, I think the 2 square machines are used for glycol cooling possibly?

Well everything you have there has tags on it with model number and likely basic specs. You should easily be able to do a quick search and find out exactly what everything is easier than us. Congratulations on the score

Re: What did I buy?
Great score that! You've bought someone's full home beer brewing setup.
The thing lying against the big cooler (BIABIAC mash tun) looks to be a co2 regulator for carbonating beer.
Those 3 powered units look like lab scale powder dosing machines?
The one with the hopper is possibly a mill though, so you might have scored even bigger than you thought, potentially all 3 of them are.
As SMF said, take a pic of the I.D plates on each one, and put that info into the net to find out what it is, I use Google lens a lot for stuff.
Let us know though, I'm intrigued what those units are.

The two on the left are circulation chillers, do the fermenter have cooling loops? The regulator stack looks like a couple of my micromatics, very nice if they are. The box on the right looks like a mill to me... the thing on top looks like a lab diaphragm pump could be either pressure or vacuum.. the one on the ground in front is a vac as well... those chillers are popular with the laser cutting crowd... handy if you have a jacketed fermenter or a cooling loop in your fermenter.. they look fairly old, check the tags and type of refrigerant.

Yup you’re correct, and yes the fermenters have cooling loops in them. Thanks for the replyquadra wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2024 1:47 am The two on the left are circulation chillers, do the fermenter have cooling loops? The chillers will be nice for low temp ferments using lager yeasts

Well then, you got totally ripped off. Send me your address and I will come get all this junk out of your garage.

Re: What did I buy?
Typically university or federal lab surplus has lots of asset tags etc. That is what I would expect to see on the small gear and chiller.. Those chronicles look really nice... I am guessing the previous owner was a lab rat brewer in a private sector lab and you should probably raise a toast to them every time you brew.

Nice score!
The things on the black and yellow tote on the left appear to be one gallon jugs, and the thing in the upper right looks to me to be a mid 70s Yamaha chopper/bobber motorcycle.
Hope this helps
