Hi here's a bit about me

Post by Patrizier84 »

Have been mainly a beer drinker for the better part of my 61 years, but for about a year now, have had a taste for whiskey. Usually straight Jim Beam. I like the Bourbon flavor, but want to learn how to make whiskey on my own. This mash sounds very interesting and it also loos like gun. Im not in a hurry and plan to read about the process and learn from you all. Thanks

Welcome, man. If you wanna get a bourbon-style spirit on the go fast then it’s hard to beat UJSSM. Get it made, get it aging on oak, and you’ll be amazed how good it is after 6 months, a year, or longer. While drinking that you could get mashing with all-grains. It’s just good to make something early (and quite a bit if it). Amazing how fast it disappear! Good luck out there.
I can’t sing, but I sing.

Welcome in, Pat!

Like you, I discovered whiskey later in life and then learned through this forum one can make spirits better than (most) what one can buy. Read all you can and then some. After a time it will all sink in and from what you learned you will then be the one sipping the most satisfying whiskey because you made it.

Always practice safety and patience.

Thanks for the welcome, good to hear from ya. To start I want to just do some simple corn mash looking at some recipe that all sound great. The sweet feed mixture also was interesting. Getting the build on a pot still, and enjoy the experience . I did get one of those cheapo vevor to experiment with its on the way. I will be building a better unit as time goes by. Thanks all

Welcome to the forum Pat.

As you go through your reading here, you might stumble on a thread called "No mash no sugar" that will be very interesting to you.

Enjoy!
