I'm new to distilling. I like Gin and scotch whiskey, and I'm keen to make brandy as well.
I have a T500 20ltr boiler with a reflux column still and an alembic pot still head as well.
I have made 2 batches of gin so far using a sugar wash. Stripping run in reflux mode then carbon filtered before macerating botanicals then spirit run in pot still. Very pleased with the result
I have tried a whiskey run from a recipe on the internet with disappointing results - 2 x 20 ltr washes fermenting LME and and some grains (200gms mashed in each 25ltr) but only got about 6 ltrs @31% from combined washes. I'll keep it as low wines or something I guess in my next attempt? oh well 2 out of 3 so far, I'm still keen to make a nice whiskey!
