Hi folks
Can anyone in Christchurch/Canterbury advise where you are buying bulk molasses ?
I've tried the local Farmlands but not too helpful

I'm up north, but your best bet is to find animal feed suppliers. Especially Equine.
My last lot was a $1.40/kg.

Re: Molasses in NZ
Msugar have a Christchurch branch. They should be able to supply you with Bundaberg molasses. If you are in a hurry to put rum in your drinking cabinet, that should give you good results.
A batch of animal feed molasses I got a few years ago took a couple of years before it was even close to being a nice rum. Now, I ask for a taste before I buy. Last time, it was so nice I bought twice as much as I had intended, but that was in Auckland.

Re: Molasses in NZ
All the molasses I've had from them had a brief analysis on the label.
They should have offered to get in a larger size for you. They always do when I ask them for something that is held at another branch.

If it is just pure Blackstrap from a sugar refinery . The stuff I get around my traps are and makes an excellent Rum .
Unfortunately , some Blackstrap is “value added” with other crap like vege oil and extra protiens and also sold as feed stock molasses
My recommended goto .

At glance, it appears like a very expensive way for a Kiwi to buy molasses.

Re: Molasses in NZ
Now that MSugar has closed in NZ (I believe it was liquidated early this year) does anyone know who sells Bundy molasses at trade prices now? By trade I mean $50 a 14kg. Shame about MSugar. Jay was a good guy.

The cheapest ive been able to find so far is HB Malt Station in the Hawkes Bay. $89 for 14kg, they also have Chelsea 14kg for $66.

Moore Wilson's used to do 14kg pale for around $40 delivered from nearest warehouse.
