Welcome,
Your introduction is pretty lean on content.
When you say "worked best" what is it that you are specifically asking?
Similarly, when you say "suggestions are appreciated ", what specifically are you asking for?
What is your current level of experience?
Are you currently distilling?

Re: New here!
To clarify, when first starting out* what recipes have worked best/tips you might have - or if there's anything you wish you knew when first starting out?
I have not distilled yet, so my experience is novice. Im trying to get a used setup (stainless 5 gallon pot with a stainless column and cooling head, condenser, in working condition for me to start. My plan is to put copper packing inside the column with copper spirals in-between the middle of the packing, I'm still trying to find the proper thermometers for the 3/8 smooth fittings on my setup tho, and want to solder some small cracks at the 90 degree joints aswell before I do a good cleaning and sacrificial run.

Re: New here!
Recipe wise there is a Tried & True Recipe section / forum that should be very useful for you.
Equipment wise, the humble pot still produces some of the most sought after spirits on the planet.
The pot still is the simplest to run while simultaneously requiring keen sensory awareness to make good spirit.

Welcome to the club
. There's a ton of information buried in this forum. You'd be wise to start reading and reading and read some more.
+1 on the tried and true section. Don't alter these recipes in any way. Learn from them first and later on you can experiment with your own or changes to these recipes.
You describe 2 different types of stills . A pot still needs no packing,a reflux still requires packing.
A modular still might be what you need.
Stay safe.

Thanks guys, I believe it's a modular still by the sounds of it then. I will definitely be taking a look at the tried and true section.
