Hello,
I'm from Australia. I've been doing extract home brew for years, and a couple of years ago, a friend lent me his SS airstill to play around with.
I've tried a few sugar washes in it and it has worked out ok. Although very slow for the volume I had fermented.
With a change in work life balance, I feel I have enough time now to dedicate to going deeper.
I'm looking to expand on this ability initially, to reduce turn around time for the most part, then building into more complex flavours. In particular I drink scotch, whiskey and rum. Vodka would also be in the mix.
Have been considering getting a Brewzilla 4.1 (for use in moving to all grain brew and mashing) and collecting modular parts for flexibility for the rest of the parts. I'd like to test the "distillation mode" on the unit before installing a voltage controller, to see how much product improvement it would get. The idea being I can swap out parts and use things for more than 1 purpose. From what I've seen, the Brewzilla would cost me about the same as a milk can boiler, before adding elements and the like.
I've been lurking around different forums for a while and have decided to engage more, along with finding all the things to read up on, as my purchases will need to be spaced out due to finances. So it's not going to be a quick rush into things. I'll take it slow, check things and try to do things correct the first time, with refining after experience of course.
Hello new friends
