Picture is of rice that has been worked on by YLAY. It started on 10/28 and has been kept around 90F. I thought it was done 2 weeks ago and put it in cool area to clarify, then after a few days put it back in the hot box at 90f and... it restarted. It has a few bubbles , but not sure if it's degassing or still working? That's why I did the iodine starch test
Thoughts?
is this a "pass" on starch test?

Looks like it 'passed' (no starch) compared to what I see in this video.
Re: is this a "pass" on starch test?
looks like there isn't any starch in the liquid.
however the iodine test cannot distinguish between unfermentable and fermentable sugars or tell you if your grains still have starch left in them.
ylay does a good job on barley & wheat, almost dissolving the kernel, but i don't know how good it works on hard grain like corn & rice.
ylay will probably get there eventually, might be why it's still working away?
the picture looks like it has whole rice grains?
if that's the case, would your ferment benefit from grinding the rice?

It's a pass. No starch - in the liquid.
As Howie says, this doesn't mean all starches have been gelatinized in grains, or that all the starches in the grains which might be converted are in that liquid.

Fyi - the grains are "mush". Very soft to the point of being more paste than solid. I'm going to let it keep going
