Sounds like either you have been brewing a long time, or are up in years. Either way you'll fit in. Welcome.

Read some more.

Your homebrewing experience will help a lot, but there are definitely things about mashing and fermenting for distillation that will be counter-intuitive. Sanitization rituals, mash temperatures, different for different goals.

Amazing site! Great info and wonderful community atmosphere, I must say!
I just wanted to get my 'feet wet' before expanding on my introduction. I've been involved with beer, ale, mead, and some wines for the last 2 decades but now face the problem of gout. So no more personal consumption of those delicious beverages.
On to the next stage of this glorious journey. I will happily admit that distillation has some unique challenges that I didn't see coming, but with the staggering (but truly useful) amount of knowledge hereabouts, it has raised both my knowledge level and enthusiasm!
Let's see where this leg of the journey goes. Cheers all!
