Unofficial Member of the year 2024 - Particular thanks
I don't know if this exists, - but I want to tag a couple of members here who I think really contributed a lot to the community last year; maybe if people like the idea you can do the same.
I think two members keep popping up and giving great insights in all the threads I seem to be browsing - so particular thanks @bolverk and @yummyrum but really to everyone on the board, and all the Admins.
Happy 2025!

Thank you tommysb
That is both very nice and very awkward .
There are a lot of members here that have contributed so much in so many ways over the last year that deserve equal notability . Once you start naming , it gets hard to stop and not leave someone out .
Cheers to all you members here and the mod team that do our best to keep the crap out .
Let’s make Home Distiller Forum 2025 an even better place .
And BTW , tommy , agree , Bolverks a bloody good member too
, he’s helped me out no end, and no doubt , many others .
As I said , hard to name some and not others .I’ll do two too
Other standouts for me , Mooseman and Normandee
Shady , you go without needing a mention
If there is anyone else that really has stood out , it is Sadie .
Come here with nothing other than a keen curiosity to learn and has taken everything on board at her pace and kept us all in the loop . ….. that what it’s all about.
Ok , that 4 now .

Thanks Tommy,
Happy to help out man, I'm just giving back to the forum I took so much from.
Ill echo Yummyrum (who I've leaned on from time to time as well) sentiments, there are lots of great contributors here.
Hope you see more great posts and people really pushing the boundaries of home distilling in the years to come.

I agree too many helping hands this year to name them all. Moose, Shady, Twisted, Bolverk, Yummy, acfixer69, Deplorable, Otis T and too many others to name, all contributed to my initial build and my subsequent development. I've said it from the jump, this place is such an incredible resource and I'm really grateful for everyone who has contributed to that knowledge base over the years, it makes it simple for someone like me to jump in the hobby and really lower the learning curve.Yummyrum wrote: ↑Tue Jan 07, 2025 5:13 am Thank you tommysb

I too am humbled and a little embarrassed to be name dropped in this context, but it makes me extremely happy that I've been able to give some value back to the forum, the people who hang out here have taught me quite literally everything that I know about distilling and I'll be eternally grateful for it.
As a total cop out I'll follow Yummy's cue and name 2 people. One who I feel contributed a heck of a lot last year - Salt Must Flow, and one who has come a really long way, really quickly - Rusty Ole Bucket.
And the mods here are better than any I've come across on any other of the pretty diverse forums I've joined.
Finally it's got to be said, whoever the main brains are that started this forum in the first place however long ago it was, we all owe them our thanks big style.

The real hero's of the forum are the new members that join daily and bring fresh ideas and questions.
Without them the Old Timers wouldn't have any questions to answer or new ideas to ponder about.

Or newbies to get grumpy at!
I agree that the list of people who deserve recognition is too long to type or even remember, and also with every one of the names listed. I’ll add my thanks to everyone here. We all contribute by sharing and exploring.

The name at the top of my list would be still_stirrin. I have learned more from his knowledgable, informative posts than could fill a brick rickhouse.Steve Broady wrote: ↑Tue Jan 07, 2025 8:34 am

Yummy , Twisted , Still Stirring and Shady are a few that get my vote as super helpful and knowledgeable.
Yummy particularly so on the electrical side of things.

Absolutely true.

Re: Unofficial Member of the year 2024 - Particular thanks
I've seen a change in the forum over the years about how newbies get treated.
In the past it was common for some folks to gang up on and belittle new members for their lack of knowledge.
Many times I've seen a newbie fall into the shark tank and get eaten alive due to no fault of their own.
Now days it's different, forum members almost appear to compete at being the most helpful.

I agree Shady, the shift over time from some of the curmudgeons who were downright hostile to the new folks to the truly helpful and friendly folks who are around here today has been a good one for the health of the forum, and for all of us as well. Learning by example is what it's all about!

Maybe we could change the name of this topic... but since everyone is doing it... I'll say it, Salt Must Flow, OtisT, and a few others have been a huge help to me the last two years. Thanks fellas!
