Passion Fruit.

Post by Sunshineer »

Has anyone ever tried to do an all passion fruit batch I gave vines to a friend who now has over eight hundred feet of six foot fence covered in them and I'm about to have a huge amount of them on my hands. Have so much going now it's insane but I just can't say no to that much vine ripened fruit. And I do have a couple of weeks before they will be ready.

We had a passion fruit vine on the fence between us and the neighbours. Lots of nice fruit.
And then, for no reason I could see but I shut up because that is not my department, my wife and the neighbour lady decided to pull it out. Bugger.

Anyway she used to freeze the pulp in ice block trays; then store the frozen blocks in plastic bags in the freezer.
Might be a good way to store some of your fruit.

I have done many. It is a big favourite amongst my friends. Nothing difficult about it at all.

I tried passion fruit with not much success. Not sure why it did not go as planned.
Did you get any flavour carry over in your brandy?

if you're referring to brandy as in oaking, then I cannot say as I do not oak it. I only drink the clear schnapps at between 40 - 45%. I just took the pulp, added enough sugar to bring the SG up over 1.045 and distilled it. It certainly carries the passion fruit aroma over on the nose and when you sip it it has a definite passion fruit aftertaste.
