New to distilling

Hello everyone my name is John Lomax from North Manchester UK, I have a good quality still and I am only making off colour distilled water, I am using 4 litres of water, I am using the correct ingredients as the recepie but I am not making GIN, can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong, PLEASE
