translucent floaties in my fient jar

Post by planohog »

Long weekend, went to the swamp, decided to do something with my feints jar, looked at it, and it had translucent floaties in both jars. Not sure what they were but I dumped them, it was 30abv about a gallon total, just wondering , i figured nothing would live in that . I thought feints lasted forever.

Very likely oils that carried over in tails. They dissolve in concentrations in the upper 40% range, can easily be filtered out when cool and disappear when warmed.

oh well , next time i heat it up a little and see if they dissolve, I wanted to add it to something, but did not want to take a chance and blow it up, there is a great deal of labor that goes into a mash, thank you ,.

Ye funny you should mention that planohog i got a 2/3 of a litre of tails I put aside to add to my next session and that has the same floaties, I assumed it was oils when it's warm they go and come back when cold.

Another reason why I hate living in cold places is that effing tail oils form disgusting lumps in your feints jar. ;)
Step by step, little by little.

I’ve never cared what my low wines or feints look like . I don’t drink them . They just go into the next spirit run …..along with any puke that ended up in there.

A simple solution is to store your Feints and low wines in Corny Kegs .
Then you can’t see them
