I’ve been a cook for a long time and know my way around a recipe and heat source. After exploring growing mushrooms in the past years, the focus of my time dedicated towards hobbies is now spent learning the craft of distillation.
Id like to learn how to assemble a still with modular components with the use of tri-clamps. Id like to eventually learn hobby level welding to fabricate necessary parts. Most of all I want to create a repeatable process for a few recipes I find delicious and worthwhile.
I purchased an 8Gal beginners still from Olympic Distillers, with a 2” column reducing down to (I could be wrong) a 1/2” copper leibig condenser with a 3/4” SS jacket. I use a 70 QT cooler as my water reservoir. For my cleaning runs I used a propane burner. I plan on using a pre assembled 120v heating controller from Moonshine Distiller when I can afford it.
I have a stuck sugar wash and a bourbon mash clearing which I plan on running tomorrow evening or sometime this week.
Im distilling in the PNW like many others.
Any help and support would be greatly appreciated.
FNG ready to learn and make some spirits
